For all the talk of the captains of the banking industry “going Galt” if we don’t love them for being job creators, it amuses me no end that the people producing something of real value (much of the best freely available content on the web) ARE. Of course, we call it by its more traditional name when it is actually people who ad fundamental value to the world going Galt, we call...

I saw Michael Fassbender and his girlfriend Zoe Kravitz at the Whole Foods in Honolulu today. Made me kind of sad, because here he was enjoying a comparitably normal and undisturbed moment, and if the Oscar talk about Shame is right, I don’t think that is going to last. There was a funny thing though. He and Zoe were the only ones sitting at the tables outside Whole Foods wearing...

Off to the races
It was chaotic, crazy, and a heck of a lot of fun. The girls participated in their first candy cane race today, and had a blast. Everyone got medals at the end, everyone found candy canes or had them given to them by Santa, everyone had cookies and cocoa. And the girls had a lot of fun on their cross country skis!

Eww.
Being a guy, I’ve seen plenty of toilets I needed to avoid because some jerk had poor aim and didn’t bother to lift the seat. Today was the first time I’ve seen this because the jerk had poor aim going number 2.

If you haven’t signed this petition, you probably should. I had always understood it to be unlawful for police to use force except to protect themselves or the public. Font nerds hate Roboto for all of the wrong...
The blogosphere has exploded (or at least, the techy font nerdy parts of it) over Google’s reveal of their new font for Android devices called Roboto. I’m not a font nerd, though I’d kind of like to be one some day, but all of the critiques I’ve seen so far have to do with aesthetic considerations that will be totally lost on most users. Instead, I think the commentary...
